|
Tranquility for Air Tubs:
|
| Getting Started |
1. Check measurements of all door openings. (Width of hallway, doors and door jams, corners/turns) Must have 26.5" (or 30" depending on model) wide x 57" long clearance. 2. If installing the AmeriWall System, check dimensions of the existing tub and AmeriWall materials to make sure you have the correct size. 3. Check for the electrical source that will be used for the tub motor. 4. Check for the outside water shut-off valve. 5. Place drop cloths as needed. (Walkway, bath area, etc.) |
|
Preparing the Area Perform Step 10 if A licensed |
6. Disconnect the existing faucet handles, tub overflow and floor drain. 7. Remove existing tub. (Use reciprocating saw for steel, fiberglass. Use sledge hammer for cast iron.) 8. If installing the AmeriWall System, remove existing wall covering/tile and replace drywall if needed. (Use Greenboard.) 9. Turn off water to home at main valve. -SUGGESTION: Cut and cap the water lines and turn the main water valve back on. This will allow the home to continue to use water through the duration of the installation. 10. If necessary, install shutoff valves (2) for hot and cold water lines. If these lines are steel, convert to copper tubing. 11. Install electrical utility box on the back wall, 6"-8" from the floor near the rear of the tub. Run electrical service to the box and install 110-120 vac GFI outlet. -SUGGESTION: The GFI Breaker/Reset should be installed in a location that allows for convenient access for resetting if necessary. 12. Determine the wail height of the AmeriWall System (back and sides) and install according to the AmeriWall System Installation Guide. 13. -OP770NAL. To allow for faster draining, connect a breather to the top of the directional 'T' located at the floor. (Breather is available at most home improvement stores.) |

Plumbing Assembly
|
A KNOWLEDGE OF PLUMBING, FITTINGS, MATERIALS ETC. IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING STEPS. 14. Install the faucet assembly on the tub and connect the HOT and COLD lines to the faucet. (See illustration. illustration is from the installer's view. The HOT should be on the left to the user.) 15. Connect the HOT line from the faucet to the hot outlet of the thermostatic mixer. 16. Install a 'T' in the COLD water line and connect the COLD water line from the faucet to one branch of the "T". 17. Connect another branch of the 'T' to the COLD water inlet on the thermostatic valve. 18. Attach a line from the remaining branch to be connected later to the COLD water supply. 19. Attach a line to the HOT water inlet on the thermostatic valve to be connected later to the HOT water supply. |

Installing the Tub
Loosen the locking nut and turn the foot to raise or lower. When the tub is level, tighten the locking nut. |
20. Bring in the tub. Set into installed position and level using the level adjustment screws on the bottom of the tub. When level, tighten the locking nuts on each foot. -IMPORTANT: When level, be certain to lower the CENTER FOOT down firmly to the floor. 21. Connect the water lines to the HOT and COLD water supply. 22. Connect 1-1/2 PVC pipe to existing drain. 23. Turn on water supply lines and check for leaks at all joints including leaks at the drain. 24. Plug air pump motor into electrical receptacle. 25. Install front panels to tub. 26. Build a shelf at the end of the tub using either Ameriwall System materials or other material. 27. Install shower curtain rod. (Follow instructions included with the shower curtain rod.) 28. Caulk as needed. |
